Wreck on the seabed |
“This is what the wreck looks like on the seabed. We will now look at the bow part of the ship where the ramp was mounted. The JAIC concluded that the ramp was pulled fully open by the visor as it fell off the ship. The JAIC also came to the conclusion that the visor was properly closed and locked before departure.

|
Note: The JAIC even concluded that the visor pulled open the ramp and thereafter fell off the vessel which was then allegedly still making a speed of some 14-15 kn (page 22/175 Final Report JAIC). |
Close up of front bulkhead |
“Here we can see the ramp slightly open in the upper part and it is also possible to see a bit of the tunnel in to the car deck. The gap between the hull and the ramp is around 0,6 meter. The tunnel is also seen on the other picture where the ramp has been removed to illustrate the opening in to the car deck."

Note: What is called “the tunnel” was the most forward part of the car deck between the longitudinal bulkheads of the side houses through which vehicles drove on and off the car deck.
