1.2.4 The missing bow ramp rails - Page 3 |
This picture (mosaic) show a part of the starboard railing, the turnable section, found on a video recording of the seabed close to the ship. The left picture has been edited to fit the perspective, the original is shown to the right (5).
The JAIC has not evaluated why, how, or when the railings were removed from the ramp, and of course they therefore have not been able to make any conclusions as a result from these findings. |

Also the fact that the railings are detached from the ramp cast more severe doubts on the JAIC scenario.
Further more, still at the ramp, the JAIC made other incorrect conclusions. |

Note: The part of the ramp rail shown above is the most forward section of the starboard bow ramp rail with the movable part. It is shown upside down on the above pictures made from the ROV video dated 02.10.94, i.e. the first official video. The reconstruction of the ROV track indicates that this railing was found ca. 270 m to the South or SSW of the stern of the wreck. It has to be assumed that the rail part fell to the bottom of the sea when the vessel turned upside down, there is, however, no explanation by what means the rails had been cut off the ramp before.
