After the presentation of the Report by the Committee of Investigation at a press conference on 18th December 2006, Evelyn Sepp, who refused to sign the Report, was interviewed by the freelance journalist Martin Roolvink. The complete interview is attached in English as Enclosure 40.
Mrs. Sepp explained in detail why she refused to sign the Report, e.g. because it contains contradictory statements and facts have not been assessed thoroughly enough, just to name some of her reasons. In particular did she object to the withdrawal of the former Foreign Minister Velliste from his earlier statement that the former Government knew about the military transports onboard the “Estonia”, although she admitted that it would have been political suicide if he would not have done so.
In the course of the interview Evelyn Sepp makes a number of remarkable statements and comments which in such a transparency have, so far, never been heard from an Estonian politician. For details reference is made to the interview wording – see Enclosure 40.
