The two left images on the previous page show the considerably enlarged opening for the hook of the manual side lock of the visor comparing October 1994 with August 2000. It is obvious that the right bulkhead part – see the arrows 3 on both images – was pressed together probably by a clamp or wire turned around, which would indicate that the recess bulkhead below would be holed. It has to be assumed that the activities demonstrated by the condition of this part of this bulkhead were related to the opening/closing of the bow ramp.
The two right images show the same damage area of the bow ramp in October 1994 and August 2000, viz. the lower side of the burst open fastening of the starboard actuator of the bow ramp. To the left the front bulkhead part is visible, of which more can be seen on the two left images. It is obvious that the gap between the burst open steel parts is quite big on the October 1994 image, but has almost disappeared on the August 2000 image – see arrow 1.
It is furthermore visible that the bow ramp was closed more in October 1994 compared to August 2000 – see arrows 2.
It is also obvious that in October 1994 the underside of the transverse beam of the bow ramp – arrows 3 – was on approximately the same level as where the upper side was found to be in August 2000 – see arrows 3.
All this is a further indication that the ramp had been opened and closed.
On the following page the area under investigation can be seen enlarged – up in October 1994 – and below – in August 2000. |
